GOLF CONNECT is now live….
Yes it may have taken a few days longer than expected but as we stated
in last month’s Update the transition to the new Golf Connect platform was
likely to take until 10 October. The national recalculation and validation
process is now complete; and MiClub as of 13 October is in sync with Golf
Australia’s upgraded system.
Players would all have received an email re going online to
validate your Golf ID.
“Golf Australia underwent extensive analysis and back-calculation
of millions of rounds, and most golfers are expected to see a change to their
GA Handicap, projected to be less than 0.5 on average.
The handicapping changes are designed to improve equity and
enjoyment for all, particularly the new Consistency Factor, which will improve
competition fairness by providing equity in Daily Handicap calculations for
women and girls to reflect their greater consistency in scoring patterns
compared to males. We’ve also back-calculated the updated 'Daily Difficulty’
calculation to 1 January 2023, so golfers will start fresh on 2 October with
the most accurate GA Handicap.”
Golf Australia Head of Handicapping & Rules, Simon Magdulski,
said : “We’ve carefully designed and applied these changes in line with the WHS
updates to suit Australian playing conditions.”
Please contact us or the Proshop if you have any queries re the
new system.
Wet
Season temp rule: Lift Clean Replace ball.
Our ‘Wet Season Rule’ allowing a player to clean their ball is
about to come back into play from November 1 through March 30 inclusive. When a
player’s ball lies in the general area, the ball may be lifted cleaned and replaced without
penalty. This local rule acknowledges the conditions on the course including
goose poo as well as the mud!
The player must mark the
spot before lifting the ball (see Rule 14.1) using a ball marker OR hold your
club on ground next to or right behind the ball. If
player lifts the ball without marking its spot, the player gets one
penalty stroke. Finally,
a reminder that the ball must be replaced as found. It cannot be used as an
opportunity to improve the lie or if adjacent to the green, utilise any
alignment marks on the ball.
Earth works on several holes (Holes 11/12 and 16/17 ) are part of
the greenkeeping team’s efforts to rehabilitate certain areas in need of
attention. Programme Turnpoint have used stakes, white paint, and signage to
indicate that these areas are GUR. Drop Zones have been drawn on the area by
the greenside path of Hole 11 and by the red tee block of Hole 12.
It is players choice as to whether they play from the GUR OR
choose to take relief. It has not been marked as COMPULSORY GUR.
