Women in Golf

Mission Statement

To grow active women members playing golf and having fun. Through this we aim to generate growth in the game and themselves.

Women’s Golf Pathway and Programs

At Darwin Golf Club we are excited to show how serious we are about women in sport and in the overall Golf Community. We have opportunities for women of all ages and all abilities to participate and have fun.

Based on the understanding that Golf is a Game for Life, women come to the game at various stages in their lives and sometimes have years off in the middle and come back to it again later. Our Women’s Golf Pathway and Programs has been designed by Bec West, PGA of Australia Certified Professional, to grow women in the game, to support women in their journey and help them to become Golfers for Life.

Our core values in this space are: kindness, support, encouragement, diversity, inclusion, growth, acceptance and fun.

Babes & Beverages

Often held on a Friday afternoon, this group is designed for women who have never played golf before or who have played occasionally and want to see what golf is all about.  Running for 90mins this afternoon is about meeting people, having a go with some instruction from our Golf Professional to hit a ball or have a putt then share some relaxation time with other fabulous females over drinks and nibbles.  Get to experience the Club and its facilities, ask questions and learn about avenues of where to go from here with your golf at Darwin Golf Club.

Ladies Only Get Out On Course Group Coaching

This group is designed for those women who have completed the Get Into Golf Ladies Only Group Coaching. This is Stage 2 in your learning to golf journey. In this space we will concentrate on being on the golf course and playing the game. With very small groups this is just like playing the game with your mates. We look to build your confidence on the course, continue to grow friendships at the Club, learn how to see the golf course and make your shot selections. On top of this we will look at some rules and etiquette while we play so you can feel more confident with putting your name down with others on the time sheet and being confident that you are ready to tackle playing golf with those that are not yet but soon to be friends. Again this is a fun, safe, supportive and encouraging space designed to help you build confidence in your game and in your surroundings.

Women on Wednesday

Women on Wednesday is a time slot in the booking sheet between 3.00pm and 4.30pm on Wednesdays secured for just the women to be able to play 9H together and enjoy each other’s company.

This is our pathway to get women out on the course and having fun, making new friends and supporting and encouraging each other on their golf journey.  There is a competition available for those who have a handicap and wish to enter (comp fee $6) and for those who do not yet have a handicap, you can use this time to play toward it if you wish or simply have a fun game of golf with friends.

The focus on this time and the intent behind its design, by a woman for the women, is to ensure a supportive, encouraging, inclusive, diverse, fun and safe space for women to play golf.  It is whatever it needs to be for wherever each player is with their game. Players do not need to be a member of Darwin Golf Club to play, they just need to be happy to reflect our Core Values and be able to join in and have fun. Another example of how committed Darwin Golf Club is to being supporting and growing Women in Golf. To make a booking, call the ProShop and speak with our friendly team on (08) 8927 1322.
