Internal Clubs

Golf is a great way to exercise and socialise at the same time and the Darwin Golf Club encourages women to participate in the great game of golf. Age and skill level are no barrier, and beginners and social players without a handicap are encouraged to come along to learn and improve.

The Darwin Veteran Golfers Club

The Darwin Veteran Golfers Club conducts a 9 hole competition every Tuesday at 12.00 pm. Competitions are usually Stableford though other formats may be adopted from time to time. Play commences with a shotgun start which allows for players to finish at the same time and enjoy a drink or two before prize presentations which normally conclude by 3.00pm.

To become a member of the Darwin Veteran Golfers Club a person must:

  • Have attained the age of 55 years
  • Be a financial member of an Australian Golf Club and
  • Must possess a Golf Australia handicap.

Visitors to Darwin who meet the above conditions are welcome to play up to 4 games before being required to become a member. The membership fee is currently $25 per annum with a one off joining fee of $20.

Most Tuesdays, we see around 60 players participating in the competition. An on-line booking sheet is available to Darwin Golf Club members. Visitors should book through the Pro Shop as we do sometimes see full fields (72 players).

The Darwin Veteran Golfers Club is affiliated with the Northern Territory Veteran Golfers Association (NTVGA) which in turn is affiliated with the Australian Veteran Golfers Union (AVGU). This allows Darwin Veteran Golfers Club members to participate in Northern Territory and National Golf Championships.

Wednesday Club

If you are too old and worn out to do anything else, why not take up golf?

The Wednesday Golf Club offers an opportunity for anyone (any age) to try their “skills” on the course. Established in 1974, it is the oldest club within the parent Darwin Golf Club. So if you enjoy the humiliation golf has to offer, the Wednesday Club is for you. A $20 annual membership fee and five dollars per game will set you on on the path of frustration and surprise (but there is always the 19th hole). The nine hole competition is held between 1pm and 4pm on a Wednesday.

Enquiries can be made at the Pro Shop or just turn up on the day.
